Passenger vehicle manufacturers in the local market are expected to announce one of their highest-ever monthly sales in June, with consumer demand remaining strong despite an improvement in the components shortage that has hampered operations for the most of the year.
Insiders predict that 321,000-325,000 passenger vehicles will be shipped from manufacturing to dealerships in June, a 25 percent rise over the 255,743 units sold in the same period last year.

Volumes would have been considerably higher, maybe breaking previous records, if market leader Maruti Suzuki NSE 4.89 percent had not taken a week-long maintenance break. Passenger cars, sedans, and utility vehicles sold a record 334,311 units in October 2020, followed by 321,794 units in March 2022.
