If the market worth of banking behemoths HDFC Bank and HDFC were calculated, investors’ wealth comparable to Bajaj Finserv’s market cap has been eroded since April 4, when the two announced a merger that sent their shares surging 9-10%.
HDFC Bank has lost Rs 1.67 lakh crore in the nine-day selloff from its April 4 market value of Rs 9,18,591 crore. In Tuesday’s intraday session, the private lender’s market value was Rs 7,51,421 crore. HDFC, on the other hand, has lost further Rs 91,595 crore in market value since April 4, falling to Rs 3,94,097 crore from Rs 4,85,692 crore.
