India’s trade deficit widened in June; imports and exports each increased by 55% and 23%.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry on Thursday, India’s total exports, including both goods and services, are projected to have increased by 22.95 percent from the same period last year, totaling about US$64.91 billion. The estimated total imports for the same period are $82.42 billion, up 55.72 percent from the same time last year.

The June merchandise trade deficit increased from $9.60 billion in June 2021 to $26.18 billion in June 2018. While the overall trade deficit increased from $0.14 in June 2021 to $17.52 in June of this year.
