In March, wholesale price-based inflation in India increased to 14.55 percent from 13.11 percent in February, owing to higher fuel and food prices.
As a result of the increase in food costs, retail inflation in March reached 6.95 percent, a 17-month high.
In the coming months, the full impact of local fuel costs will become apparent.
Fuel prices increased by 34.52 percent year over year, compared to 31.50 percent in February. In March, the food index increased by 8.71 percent, compared to 8.47 percent in February.
