Investor morale was pushed down by disappointment over quarterly profits and unfavourable global cues, as listed companies lost nearly Rs 3.83 lakh crore in value in Monday’s selloff.
As the market started trading today after a long holiday, the market capitalization of all equities listed on the BSE fell to Rs 268.19 lakh crore after 60 minutes of trade, down from Rs 272.03 lakh crore last Wednesday.
Midcaps and smallcaps, on the other hand, fared better, with losses of up to 1.5 percent compared to the BSE Sensex and Nifty50’s losses of up to 2%.
