July 31, 2022, or this Sunday, is the deadline to file an income tax return for the fiscal year 2021–2022 (AY 2022-23). For taxpayers whose accounts do not need to be audited, this deadline applies. The income tax division has been reminding people about the deadline for filing ITR via its official Twitter account, emails, and SMS messages. According to a tweet from the income tax division, “On the e-Filing platform, more than 3 crore ITRs for the tax year 2022–23 had been submitted as of July 25, 2022. ITR submissions for AY 2022–23 must be made by July 31st, 2022. If your ITR hasn’t been submitted yet, we strongly advise that you do so immediately. #FileNow! Visit incometax.gov.in to learn more about ITD.”
