Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) are planning to expand their collaboration and begin manufacture of a midsize ports utility vehicle to compete with Korean rivals and boost their foothold in the Indian market.

Suzuki will begin manufacture of a new SUV type at Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s manufacturing facility in Bidadi, Karnataka, in August. The new model will be marketed in India by Maruti Suzuki India NSE -0.16 percent Limited and TKM as Suzuki and Toyota models, respectively.
