Wholesale-based inflation rose to 15.88 percent in May, up from 15.08 percent in April and 13.11 percent in the previous fiscal period. For the fourteenth month in a row, the figure has remained in the double digits. The increase is primarily driven by vegetable inflation, which increased dramatically to 56.36 percent in May from 23.24 percent in April.
Increased prices for mineral oils, crude petroleum and natural gas, food and non-food articles, and chemical and chemical products are also significant contributors to the rise.
